In 2010 Share Dimension made a wish over 5 candles on the birthday cake. It seems like yesterday that this company was just a vision of Claudiu Tanasescu and Gia Betiu. Hard work and great ideas transformed a vision into a solid company. In 2005 the founders focused on financial software- this gave them a great start.
We like chess! you may ask yourselves “what’s chess got to do with it ?“ Well, we wanted to explore the link between chess thinking and software development. So in 2006 Share Dimension sponsored the Groningen Chess Team – one of the leading teams in the Dutch Master Class.
Later that year Share Dimension came to an explosive growth. We attracted major customers in the financial software department and one of the biggest was Credit Suisse Switzerland. By the end of 2006 we welcomed our first external investor, who acquired 30% of the company.
In 2007 Share Dimension Groningen wins the Dutch National Chess Championship. The year continued in a happy tone and a new branch was created: The Multimedia Division. This Division was created especially for developing online video broadcasting systems.
Share Dimension parted ways with the Financial division by the end of 2007. The division was sold to it’s biggest customer. Founding partner Gia Betiu leaves the company to run the unit further.
Call it faith but we return to chess… by the end of 2008 the Multimedia Division had won the contract to broadcast the World Chess Championship. A pet project is born: FOIDOS.
Passion invested in the company was starting to show results. In the first months of 2009 SD is certified as a “Microsoft Partner with Custom Development Solutions and a Mobility Solution Competencies”.
The multimedia division was growing. We developed a second application for Foidos – Broadcast of the Coke Live Peninsula Festival. For the first application, the Chess Championship, Share Dimension was awarded “Most Effective Start-up 2.0 ” selected from 40 contestant companies.
By the end of 2009 we received another award: the Microsoft BizSpark Start-up of the day.
